Issues or Bugs

Help us improve AOL Reader by sharing with us any bugs you have encountered!

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. Tap target at top right on article needs to be larger

When using the X at the top right of an article to close the article it rarely works on my iPad mini. Making the tap target larger would make it easier to hit.

    • I regularly get a message "Your article's starred state can not be saved.". I usually need to try again (slowly) two times, until it works.

OS/Browser: Win 7/Chrome (regular, current version)

P.S.: "Contact Support" link is not working in Chrome (and maybe other browsers).

        • Bug-Aol reader alter reader format

Aol reader is changing the rss content, removing source information like width and height of images, changing the formatting of feeds.

          Ex: http://ndrangheta-br.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss

            • TWIG feed displays incorrectly

When viewing the TWIG podcast feed (http://feeds.twit.tv/twig) there are no hyperlinks and the description text is clumped together instead of being in paragraphs. I have attached images showing the AOL Reader rendering and the correct rendering at The Old Reader.

              • Bug - Articles tagged appear untagged 1 day before.

Some articles being tagged by me, appear untagged the day before. Then, I can tag them newly but the reader repeats the same behavior and are untagged later.

This bug does not occur always. Some articles tagged remain so always.

I use the tagging feature intensively. Could you please revise this issue?

                Thank you

                • RSS <language> tag not working?

I am having problem reading a japanese RSS feed for about 2-3 weeks. The same feed was working properly and japanese are displayed correctly, but now it is not work. I have used the browser to open the feed rss.xml and have no problem, and I see there is a <language>ja</language> tag inside specifying it is a japanese feed. Could you please check?

                    • Feed Comes In Squished Together

                      This feed:
                      http://www.merriam-webster.com/word/index.xml
comes in as a jumbled mass. All other RSS readers separate it out in a pleasant/reader format

                      • Bug: Some feeds don't update at all

Some of the feeds don't update at all. When I add them to The Old Reader or Feedly, I see the updates, but not in AOL Reader.

All of the examples below are Yahoo Pipes feeds, so this problem may be limited to Pipes feeds, but I suspect there are others. I'll add them in comments if I find out.

                        Example feeds:
                        http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.run?_id=a3e8be7343afe67e78440e8df27f911f&_render=rss

                            • 'N' and 'P' hotkeys still navigate do not mark articles as 'read'

Until recently the N and P hotkeys would browse [N]ext and [P]revious articles in the news feed while marking articles as "read". Seemingly without rhyme or reason this functionality has been broken.

The J/K hotkeys serve the same function but I much prefer the N/P combo; if only out of habit and for the ease of remembering which key performs which function. One could argue that J and K have no inherent meaning as navigational controls but there is no harm in supporting both methods.

Please return the old functionality for N and P as navigational hotkeys. This is important…

                                • Middle Button not working for opening article in new tab

Middle Button not working for opening article in new tab .

                                  Current behavior :
When clicking on a article title with the middle button nothing happens.

                                  Expected behavior :
When clicking on a article title it should open the article page in a new tab but the browser should remain in the current tab.

                                  My system info :

<span> attributes in the title should be interpreted or sanitized away,
but not be ignored, i.e. written in verbatim..

                                    The feed
                                    http://packages.gentoo.org/feed/arch/amd64/stable
uses them, never found it to be a problem.

                                    An example:
                                    <span class="cpvstr">media-radio/xdx-2.4.2</span>: <span class="description">a GTK+ TCP/IP DX-cluster and ON4KST chat client.</span>

                                    Should be:
                                    media-radio/xdx-2.4.2: a GTK+ TCP/IP DX-cluster and ON4KST chat client

                                    Thanks
                                    and cudos for the implementation.
