Issues or Bugs

Help us improve AOL Reader by sharing with us any bugs you have encountered!

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Cannot view posts in any manner

Suddenly there is no way to see a post. Clicking via (Mac) contextual menu Open Link in New Tab only opens the AOL reader in a different view. Clicking the Post title also only opens the AOL reader in the same view. Can never get to an actual post. Oh, and it's indicating 212 new posts although there are really only about fifteen. The AOL Reader is *so* unreliable.

    • I'm getting no new items I've starred on another device

I'm getting no new items I've starred on another device.

Starred items do not sync/show up in my starred items for my current machine. If I select "newest first" I'm missing a fortnight.

        • Unresponsive interface

Ever since the latest upgrade (sometime yesterday), the entire UI is pretty much non-responsive. I have tried re-logging in, stripping additional words out after main URL, being patient - nothing works. Can we just go back to the old version?

          • Youtube subscriptions open in HTTPS and leads to "Unable to connect"

Before, I was able to add Youtube subscriptions (Feeds) to AOL, by adding the youtube channel feed link.
Now, all the Youtube feeds (even the already subscribed ones) open in HTTPS URLS, and lead the "Unable to connect" page

            • ios 7 Safari Sign In with Google

Seems that Sign In on iPad Mini IOS 7 Safari via Google doesn't work. Clicking Go or Sign In on the Google Account page doesn't do anything--sign in does not process. Probably a Google Accounts issue, but AOL Reader is using Google Accounts in this case. There is no problem doing the same thing in Chrome on IOS 7.

You can expand and collapse the sidebar by using keyboard shortcut ‘u’. If you want the sidebar to stay without blocking the list view, you can exit fullscreen by pressing the key ‘f’.

                • "Check Website" button for invalid feed returns to reader.aol.com, not the problematic website

Hitting the "Check website" button on a problematic feed opens a new tab, but returns to reader.aol.com.

                  • Fixed Header is jumpy on scrolling

If you scroll the feed list the header in Chrome (Canary) is jumpy. Please add -webkit-transform: translateZ(0); too avoid this behaviour.

                    • No categories, no feeds, no folders.

Subscriptions that I know are valid can't be added. (Red error notice.) Category folders can't be created. There's no menu item anywhere for creating a category folder. (I'm stuck with 2 folders (from the previous version.) Feeds can't be moved into either of these 2 folders. The whole thing is a mess and totally useless. (OS: Mac, Firefox)

                      • New articles are all being marked as read

Since yesterday, all new articles are showing up as for my account. If I switch to "View -> All Items", I can see new articles which I have never read. However, if I switch to "View -> Unread Only", I see no articles at all.

I have seen it happening on two different machines (Windows 7, Ubuntu) and different browsers (Chrome 29.0.1547.66m, IE).

Deleting cookies, logging out and in again, or signing in from an Incognito window make no difference.

                        • Mobile version registering multiple taps on an article

This is kind of hard to describe, but I've been noticing odd behavior in the mobile version (happens on my iphone and ipad, in chrome or safari). Sometimes, when I'm reading an article and hit the back button, rather than going back to my feed it just... goes to the article again. I have to hit back again to get to the feed.

It seems like it's registering multiple taps on the article, and opening it over itself, if that makes any sense? I was able to reproduce it by going in to one of my subscriptions and quickly double-tapping…

                            • Can not login on firefox

I was using a google account to login to my reader, everything was right until yesterday I installed a firefox plugin called 'Referrer Control'.

Now when I click 'Sign In' button, it goes to google auth url and then jump back to welcome page. I can see my account already signed in on www.aol.com.

I have removed the plugin and cleared my cache/cookies but the bug remains.
Anything I can do to solve it?

                              i'm using Firefox 23 on Win8

                                Hello!,

I am using Chrome 28.0.1500.70 running on Fedora 17 64bits

                                Best regards, Daniel.

                                  • Articles not marked as 'read'

When I browse my feeds from the [ALL] view none of them are being marked as read. I have my view set to show unread articles starting with most recent. I move down through the list using the 'N' hotkey and I can go through hundreds of articles without any of them being marked as read. I've tried changing my view options, manually scrolling, clicking each article, etc and nothing actually seems to trigger the article being marked as read. The only way I'm able to mark articles is by using the 'mark as read' interface button.

                                    This started probably…
